Shooting Sydney’s $100 Million Penthouse: Behind the Lens of Luxury

There are photoshoots, and then there are photoshoots. When you’re called to capture a $100 million penthouse with Sydney Harbour as your backdrop, you know it’s going to be an unforgettable day—literally from sunrise to sunset.

3:00 AM—the alarm went off. By 4:30 AM, I was on-site, gearing up to capture the 5:15 AM sunrise. I hadn’t even seen the apartment before, so I had no idea what to expect. But when you’re working at this level, there’s no time for hesitation.

A Sunrise Over $100 Million

By 5:10 AM, I found myself on the top floor of one of Barangaroo’s most exclusive towers. The agent offered me a tour, but there was no time. The rising sun was about to flood the penthouse’s grand living room—30 meters of wraparound windows, spanning two storeys, with a view that stretched across Sydney Harbour. I had to think fast.

With only minutes before the golden light hit, I had to come up with magazine-worthy shots on the fly. At 1,000 square meters, this place was larger than most suburban blocks—a staggering 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, and its own private pool overlooking the city. Marble covered every inch of the floor. This wasn’t just a property—it was a work of art.

Capturing Every Angle

For the next 16 hours, we shot non-stop, capturing over 250 images. As the sun moved across the sky, new angles emerged, revealing even more of the apartment’s grandeur. The wraparound windows gave us limitless opportunities, but the pressure was on to get every shot perfect.

Working with large, open spaces like this is one of the hallmarks of architecture interiors photography in Sydney, especially for properties of this caliber. We had to ensure that every image captured the apartment’s expansive views while balancing the intricate details of the interior design—something that only high-end professional photography can achieve.

I barely had time to pause—if it weren’t for the endless supply of water bottles, I might not have made it through!

The Magic of Sydney Harbour at Night

As day turned to night, the iconic Sydney Harbour lit up, and the apartment took on an entirely new life. The city’s twinkling lights against the glass walls added another layer of luxury, transforming the already stunning space into something magical. These twilight hours are crucial in luxury real estate photography, as they provide a unique opportunity to capture the ambiance and lifestyle that a property like this offers.

We kept shooting well into the evening, ensuring we captured every angle of this incredible penthouse. From the marble bathrooms to the expansive pool with a view, every detail had to be perfect. Every image we took spoke not only of the property’s features but also of the luxurious lifestyle that comes with it.

A Monster Shoot for a Landmark Property

By the time we wrapped, it was one of the longest and most intense shoots we’ve ever done. Luxury real estate photography isn’t just about getting the right angles; it’s about telling a story. The scale, the pressure, the sheer beauty of the space—it all came together to create something truly unique.
